Known for his musical talent, off the cut TV presenting style, vibrant dancing skills and unique fashion sense, ZULU MKHATHINI is far from being your average 28 year old.
Born Mthokozisi NqabakaZULU Mkhathini, ZULU rose to fame as a member of the award winning South African hip hop trio, DreamTeam. He has since taken the country by storm in his own right with his on screen debut on the popular urban show V-Entertainment, to later gracing Channel O’s flagship music show ‘Turn Up’ and the Top 50 Countdown, he showed immense growth which landed him national acclaim on screen, then secured his role as one of the hosts of the vibrant magazine show ‘All Access Mzansi’.
ZULU’s on screen charisma and charm went digital when Castle Lite Lime produced an online show simply titled DASH’s LIME LITE, a short burst of comedic episodes where ZULU puts the Lime light on relevant topics and people who have the young millennials talking. This prosperous partnership saw them reunite when ZULU was selected as one of three Castle Lite ambassodors for 2017. The accomplishments of this collaboration has finally seen him anchor the all new Mzansi Magic’s hit reality show Ultimate House Party, where he’s not only the lead host but also the head judge.
His fashion sense has left ladies smitten, gents inspired and brands demanding to collaborate with him. GQ has labelled him as “The man of the moment” and later awarded him in their prestiguos TOP 10 best dressed men list 2017.
He is known as a prominent voice of authority and a leader of the new school within South African pop culture, Zulu was announced as one of only three influencers on the AXE “Find Your Magic” campaign in its early days and this relationship has grown strength to strength hence why he still lends his services to the iconic global male brand.
ZULU featured on South Africa’s coveted Sowetan’s Mzansi’s Sexiest list which aims to identify Mzansi’s sexiest male and female celebrities, and as a finalist he later appeared on their 2017 calendar. This was later accompanied with him being the first male to grace the illustrious S-MAG cover, which recieved an explosive response from the readers. He has been named one of South Africas sexiest men of 2018 by the iconic Cosmopolitan magazine. In December 2017 the festivity was quite active in the Zulu brand as he partnered with the household brand Woolworths as a ambassador for their christmas campaign, this collaboration with Woolworths has introduced him into many homes and families hearts.
His star continued to rise as The 2017 DASH X TOPMAN – 5 NEW RULES collaboration was announced, creating a massive buzz in the industry as it was the first of its kind, seeing ZULU as the only South African to lead such a successful international campaign. This later saw another collaboration with the two brands, but this time ZULU got to showcase his artistic talents by designing exclusive badges for yet another truimphant campaign.
